Hidden Gems: Save Your Vision

Save Your Vision Month

March is Save Your Vision Month — an annual observance dedicated to promoting the significance of regular eye check-ups, understanding the risks of digital eye strain, and adopting habits that ensure optimal eye health.

At WarCollar, in addition to our 100% medical insurance premium covered for the employee and their family, we have various "hidden gems" to keep our employees healthy. Here are some hidden gems and tips to help our employees save their vision. Our Health Provider Cigna recommends following:

1. Eat healthy.

One of the simplest secrets for promoting eye health is incorporating plenty of dark, leafy greens — like spinach, kale and collard greens — into daily meals. Eating fish high in omega-3, like tuna and salmon, can help your eyes too, as this important polyunsaturated fatty acid supports retina health. WarCollar employees can access “Active&Fit Direct” through Cigna for discounted gym memberships and workout videos.

2. Stay Active

Adding more movement to your daily lifestyle can aid in preventing conditions like diabetes, high blood pressure and high cholesterol. Left untreated, these conditions can increase your risk for eye diseases like glaucoma. Cigna partners with “Omada” to build long-term habits to help reduce your risk for diabetes.

3. Wear sunglasses, even on cloudy days.

It’s important to protect your eyes from the sun by wearing sunglasses — even on cloudy days. Prescription sunglasses can provide optimal sun correction while adapting to even the most complex lens prescriptions. WarCollar’s VSP insurance covers annual eye tests.
